Breathe

Breathe in, breathe out.
Breathe in, breathe out.

I wonder if today's the day.
It could have been yesterday.
It might be tomorrow.

Breathe in, breathe out.

My breaths are numbered
Like months in the womb,
Like pages in books,
Like days in the tomb.

Resurrection comes after
The last breath escapes
Its earthly cage,
Evaporating into eternity.

Breathe in, breathe out.

The longing to be with the One I love
Increases with age,
Intensifies with pain.
No more losses,
Only gain.

Breathe.
