Boundaries

the edges of earth
hemmed by Your hands
stitched by Your spirit
strain toward eternity,
yet know only
the inflexible limits
of time

day and night
stream steadily by,
from alpha
to omega
between
unbending bookends
of sun
and moon

summer and winter
rise and fall
according to Your plan,
framed by the seasons
You had reason
to create

only for a moment
will the edges hold
will the garment
keep shape
will generations
unfold

a new heaven
a new earth
will form on the wheel,
boundaries
will be broken
time just a token
of what used to be

(Psalm 74:16,17 ~ The day is Yours, and Yours also the night; You established the sun and moon. It was You who set all the boundaries of the earth; You made both summer and winter.)

  1. Hi, I told you on the board this was a lovely poem... but I thought that I would tell you here, too.

    Hugs,
    Debbie
