Nannie's Jumbles

This cookie recipe was handed down by my great-grandmother whom we called Nannie.

Nannie's Jumbles

1 1/2 cups granulated white sugar
1 cup of butter (two sticks), softened
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 eggs
4 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup milk (I use 1%)
1 1/2 cups dark raisins (soften first in warm water; drain)

Mix together the first five ingredients.
Blend in the flour, baking powder, and milk.
Fold in the raisins.
Drop by generous teaspoonful onto non-stick cookie sheet and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 12 minutes.

About four dozen.

(These cookies are enjoyed best when accompanied by a glass of cold milk.)
